Column elements are a must to build the template

MJML requires using the Columns for structuring the email. This approach guarantees the responsiveness of the future email.

To identify it, there is a new placeholder in the Email template editor:

Collection Container, Table Container, and Current User Container are the Columns for themselves, so use them w/o a necessary Column lining. However, this is not a mistake to use Columns for Containers.

Dynamic elements remain disabled until the Container is placed in the editor; Static elements remain disabled until the Column is placed in the editor.

Delete or add new columns via the navigation panel.

Text elements updates

The list of fonts available for Text-kind elements in Email templates is limited to the fonts that are rendered correctly in every email client, including:

  • Arial

  • Arial Black

  • Courier New

  • Georgia

  • Helvetica

  • Lucida Sans Unicode

  • Tahoma

  • Times New Roman

  • Trebuchet MS

  • Verdana

Image elements updates

From now on, assign the images with links and hints via the Data tab.

URL link and Hint on hover values include options:

  • Static

  • Dynamic

For the Static option, enter the URL and Hint texts manually. In this case, they will keep the same in every newly generated email.

For the Dynamic option, map the corresponding values from the collection where the image is based.

It is possible to mix the type of the link (static/dynamic) with the hint on hover type (static/dynamic).

New Static Elements

There are new Static elements available for Email templates:

  • Button

  • Social Group and Social Element

  • Spacer

Button

The Button element is a clickable component designed to act when tapped. In the Data tab, the following settings can be controlled:

  • Button text

  • URL where the button leads

For the Static option, enter the Button text and URL Link manually. In this case, they will keep the same in every newly generated email.

If place the Button in the Container, the Dynamic option for button text and URL are unlocked. Map the corresponding values from the collection where the button is based.

It is possible to mix the type of the link (static/dynamic) with the button text (static/dynamic).

Social Group and Social Element

Social elements allow displaying the social media icons with corresponding links in the Email templates. Social Group is a container for the Social elements.

Set the direction of the social media icons in the Social Group via the Data tab.

Select the icon to display in the list of social media:

If the required social media is absent, add a needed one via the Custom option:

Place the link to the image in the Src field.

Ensure the link provided directs to a valid image file (end with a format like .jpg, .png, etc.)

Place the link to the corresponding social media in the Href field.

Spacer

Spacer is used for separating elements within one block (column) in email templates from each other. Margins and padding may not work in Classic MS Outlook, so the Spacer is a guaranteed option to separate elements.

Backward compatibility for previously created Email templates

The email templates created before Release 3.8 of Composer Online remain available as a basis for future newsletters. However, such templates are blocked from editing.
